Justice Connect is conducting research with Victorians who have experienced legal problems related to personal insolvency, bankruptcy, and unmanageable debts.

Our research aims to improve the free legal assistance sector’s understanding of common financial legal problems. By finding ways to connect people with free legal help, Justice Connect aims to resolve financial legal problems before they escalate to court.

We are inviting you to participate in this research because of your experiences with financial legal problems. We want to understand what motivates people to seek legal help, and what barriers stand in their way.

Your participation in this research is valuable to us and will help us increase access to free legal help across Victoria. As a token of appreciation for your time, we will email all participants who complete the survey a $20 pre-paid Mastercard. This will be emailed to you upon conclusion of our research.

Justice Connect is committed to informed consent across all of its research activities. Your personal information will be kept strictly confidential and your answers to this survey will not be used without your consent.

Eligibility

This survey is for Victorians who have:

  • experienced bankruptcy in the last five years.
  • entered into a debt agreement in the last five years.
  • been taken to court by a creditor in the last five years.

In order to complete the survey, you will first need to complete a qualifying eligibility questionnaire, via the buttons above or below.

It is important to us that legal services respond to the needs of people who use them. A previous version of this survey was maliciously targeted, and so we are asking everyone to complete this qualifying eligibility questionnaire to make sure only real people who have experienced financial legal problems are participating in this research, not bots.

We have created a Glossary of Terms to assist you as you complete the survey. You may find it helpful to have this webpage open in another tab.

A $20 Mastercard gift card will be emailed to you once the survey closes to all participants. One voucher per person, per single survey completion. In order to receive the voucher you will need to provide your email address to us when completing the survey. You will need to complete the eligibility questionnaire in order to participate in the survey. The Mastercard gift card is a virtual card that can only be used online. It can be used anywhere that accepts Mastercard as a payment.
